When owning a home, there are big decisions you have to make. Doing chores and paying bills are just the tip of the iceberg. You also have to maintain and/or improve your home for its long-term capacity but sometimes there will be some problems you’ll encounter. From picking which is the right key when you accidentally locked the door or painting your rooms and it gets messy. It can be overwhelming to do such things especially when you’re busy or in a hurry.

Here are some easy home tips that could help using everyday items you probably have around the house.

Pick your favorite dark shade or glitter polish, paint the top side of a key, let it dry, and continue coating until you're happy with the results. Another fun way to paint your keys is by using spray paint, which allows you to get a bit crafty.

2. Use crayons to fill in nail holes.

Filling in nail holes can be an annoying chore but thanks to crayons, which have proven themselves useful in making both colorful home accents and other crayons, you can now do a quick fix of smaller holes in only a few minutes. Press the crayon into the hole, breaking off some of the wax inside. Rub until smooth. If needed, blend the wax with your finger to smooth. Make sure it's a close match to your wall color. That's it!

3. Treat your smelly garbage can with vinegar.

You remedy that stinky trash can you have in your yard, place a small bowl inside the bin containing white vinegar, and leave it overnight. You can as well use a piece of bread soaked in vinegar. It is a trick that also works for refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, and coolers.

4. Spot a toilet leak using powdered juice drink.

If you suspect a leaky toilet, use any dark-colored powdered juice drink. Pour a sachet after removing the lid of the toilet tank.

Wait 30 minutes, and if you return to find the inside of your toilet bowl the same color as the juice drink, then you’ll know you have a leak. Just make sure that you don’t flush your toilet while you wait to work its magic.

5. Use a rubber band around the paint can.
