PNR Calamba: Manila to Laguna in 1 hour!

The province of Laguna is known as the “Resort Capital of the Philippines”; it is a haven for immaculate bodies of water such as springs, falls, and lakes making it a great destination for everyone who wants to relax and unwind that is not too far from Metro Manila. Rich in history, Laguna is also famous for the birthplace of our national hero - Jose Rizal; The Rizal Shrine is located in Calamba, Laguna.

The PNR Calamba railway project is part of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) system that stretches from Calamba, Laguna - Luzon’s southern portion to Pampanga - Luzon’s northern portion which includes the Clark International Airport. DOTr plans to convert Calamba City’s 22 hectares of land to be the new PNR Calamba.


Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), PNR Calamba’s 19 stations are located in five cities in Metro Manila and six cities in Laguna. 'Record-braking' number of bids, PNR Calamba receives support from six local and 17 international companies to make this project possible.



EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

COVID-19 has been a challenge since 2020, employees all over Luzon were laid off, thus building infrastructure like this would be a great opportunity for employment.


PNR Calamba - aside from its connectivity, this project will provide more than 10,000 job opportunities once its construction will start by next year, 2022. This is a great chance for Filipinos in Laguna to bounce back especially during this pandemic.

The railway sector is ought to connect from Solis, Manila to Calamba and aim to be partially operable in 2025 and fully operable by 2028 making commuters cut down their travel time between Manila and Laguna from 3 hours to 1 hour with a passenger capacity of 340,000 daily.


PNR is also connected to Alabang making its travel time 30 minutes to Laguna. Moreover, those who want to travel to the north - Clark, Pampanga can be reached in 1 hour and 30 minutes!
